B-Schaller & Crew, Stecken, Cologne
Relive the magic of B-Schaller here.
Welcome to yet another D*ruffalo project: the transformation of international greens by sonic means.
The D*ruffalo Photographic Squad is currently in briefing status for the documentation of the proceedings, and of course we’ll send correspondents for a full report.
If this proves to be as successful as our strategic think tank expects, target will be locked on every bongo hippie across Berlin, and the click clack impromptu raves disturbing the peace and quiet of our early morning Hühnerhaus breakfasts.
Berlin Mayday…always a hot night – ideal for an editorial meeting to kick around new ideas. And while the city was soaked in tiring and boring violence and riots, we planned to meet at our favourite place (Alt Berlin) with our favourite Top 10 Resident Advisor DJ of 2009 (just three words: Ostrich leather brogues) to review “Washing Maschine” the night before (Yes, rumors confirmed: DeMichelis played “Keep pushing“), develop new entertainment formats and celebrate his new red/blue German Bundesliga championship scarf (the blue bits are for runner up Schalke 04 – and of course for Hertha BSC for finally ending up in the league where they belong). Congratulations, by the way.
But then shock and awe: Alt Berlin, our favourite pub, was closed. Maybe this was just a precaution to keep the beacon of gentrification out of the night’s troubles. Our strength, however, is improvisation. So we found a new hotspot just opposite to have our little chit chat.
Verdict: Great beer, fantastic food, nice people and a large luxurious patio outside to watch the midnight strollers. The New (Asia) vs. the Alt (Berlin): score 1 : 1.
Our nice carnivorous odyssey demanded our old bodies dressed in casual clobber to move on to meet up with Todd B., Traxx and Optimo at the glamurous and arty place h.b.c.. But before we arrived at the young art scene’s regularly out of capacity packed hot-spot …. among a string of utter useless Mitte places and shops….this:
On our way to h.b.c. we found the store of stores: The Ed Hardy of New Zealand, Paul Snowden, apparently has opened a little shop just off Alexanderplatz. His t-shirt designs for German Wasted Youth are a statement of its own. Like an evil blasphemic piss over Malcolm McLaren’s freshly dug grave. If there were justice in this city, Berlin’s rioters should have built their burning barricades in front of this baby Frankenstein of a showroom.
But there was more. We. found. the. best. pub. in. Berlin. ever. And: We can’t even remember its name. But probably it is Keb’up (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 9). Just let the pictures give you an impression of the sheer grandeur of this place. A 600 square meter patio just on the other side of the Telespargel… how fucking great is this?
It is obvously a temple where they worship the large glowing Doener Kebab:
Ok… in the end, we also visited h.b.c. and the other guys even managed to visit CdV (Ricardo!) and Bar 25 to check the current druffness of the city. But this story, we will tell you another time.
Oh yes…here is the No:
First of May/ Erster Mai 2010 in Berlin from Kaspar Lerch on Vimeo.
Temperatures are rising and “dance scHaller” is hitting it out of the park once again. The boy from the hood who lives now in Nico’s old pub in Colonia shows that he is the dj’s dj… or as we put it: the Gerd Jansons’ Gerd Janson.
Go to the fridge, pop a cold beer, get a chicken salad sandwich and tune in to Maccie’s Talkin Spring mix.
…aaaand don’t forget to catch Marc live and direct at his own Damaged Goods parties in Köllefornia (next: 8 May, Stecken) and – later in May – in Berlin.
First off on Friday it’s the annual best top old boys night out with the three dons that made house what it is in Berlin plus MC Best. Don’t mess and don’t miss.
Sweetness!
