Bozman has managed to unearth yet another obscure mixtape by Theo Parrish that nobody else has ever heard of. Its sound quality is unfortunately nothing to write home about (and no, his expressionist mixer antics cannot be held responsible this time), but of course it is wonderful nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!
As we were dozing through the trailers and commercials waiting for Eastern Promises to begin, a commercial for Adidas Originals caught our attention. It wasn’t for the questionably fashionable shoes featured, but for Theo Parrish, who walked around town with a directional microphone, field recording sounds from garbage cans and ruins and ghetto kids and of course the lone jazzman who always plays his lament in urban wasteland 24/7. Like, you know, it’s the way things are done in Detroit. Think Basquiat roaming the Lower East Side, with better sounds and less art. There was a blink of the Parrish studio, too, however authentic. It looked like an unused underground location of Besson’s “Subway”. Good to see the house side of Motorcity gets on par with Magic Juan meeting a Ford commercial, but it was a weird encounter.
Cronenberg of course delivered, go see it.
We absolutely support the technological embracing, non-dancing, non-drinking, for art suffering, HD archiving, in control being, 24/7 pensive approach to the way you play music. So here’s a list of people who are a total disgrace to the whole profession:
Theo
Traxx
Daniel
Keb

Robert
