The Druffalo travel guide to North/East Germany
Posted: March 2nd, 2009 | Author: Druffalo | Filed under: Tourism | Tags: Druffism, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern | No Comments »Let’s take a look at a few characteristics you should keep in mind whilst heading north:
Culture
The handling of cultural heritage in North/East Germany is troubled. Whereas footie club support is passionate (see “Usedom Ultras” and the Kogge mob), and landmarks and tourist features are gladly exploited to balance an otherwise fledgling economy, the Fine Arts fall way behind.

(Zinnowitz)
Humour
The humour of the area is indigenous. Hotels are named after other cities than the city they are actually located in, and then attributed with street names considered to be authentic. Locals can’t help giggling every time they pass by.

(Wismar)
Beach life
Bear the fact in mind that beaches in North/East Germany are ruled by a Nudist Apartheid regime. People who don’t want to see everybody like God intended have their own reservations, which they have to share with the pets of the Nudist Apartheid regime.

(Heiligendamm)
Nature
The nature of North/East Germany introduces the inland urbanite rather harshly to the concepts of wind and horizon. Both totally rock.

(Relik)
Food
Fish directly from the Kutter in Warnemünde, Ice Cream at Milano in Rostock, and Cake at Valentins in Bastorf are mandatory. Don’t leave without trying.
